The Revised Opportunity
Our work in refurbishing used equipment.
Ora is a French SME committed to the ecological transformation of the musical instrument trade.
Behind Ora is a team of music, technology, and audio equipment enthusiasts, convinced that there is a better way to buy, sell, and circulate the instruments that accompany musicians every day.
Our project was born from a simple observation: a lot of musical equipment retains its technical, sonic, and creative value long after its first use.
An instrument is not a disposable product.
Yet, every year, countless musical instruments are discarded or replaced when they could still accompany musicians for many years to come.
At Ora, we have chosen to make reuse a simple and accessible alternative. By giving musical equipment a second life, we help reduce waste while making quality instruments accessible to more enthusiasts.
To do this, we meticulously select, test, and overhaul each unit to offer a true alternative to new.
Our work in refurbishing used equipment.
Our work on archiving and documenting musical material.
Our work in the development of innovative musical equipment.
Our reconditioning process for used equipment is based on three main pillars.
First, we source second-hand musical equipment, prioritizing instruments, machines, and gear with genuine reuse potential.
Each product is then tested according to a detailed diagnostic procedure and, if necessary, serviced in our workshop. This step helps identify its true condition, any potential defects, and the necessary interventions before it is put back into circulation.
Finally, a unique product sheet is drawn up for each item. It outlines known product information, details the tests and interventions carried out, specifies its cosmetic condition, and is based on our Ora Grading scale. Once documented, the products are put up for sale on our website, allowing them to continue their use with new musicians.
Our preservation and documentation efforts extend beyond equipment repair.
Each unit that passes through our workshop allows us to gather valuable information: technical specifications, observed behaviors, recurring defects, compatible parts, critical points, and possible interventions.
This data is progressively organized to produce accessible documentation, useful for musicians, technicians, and anyone wishing to better understand, maintain, or repair their equipment.
At the same time, we are building up a stock of spare parts to facilitate the restoration of certain equipment, particularly rare, old, or difficult-to-maintain models. This approach allows us to preserve objects that are sometimes difficult to replace, while contributing to the preservation of a part of the history of musical innovation.
Our innovation approach extends our workshop and conservation work.
In parallel with refurbishing used equipment, we are conducting research and development into new items, accessories, and solutions designed for musicians, technicians, and sound creators.
This approach aims to design original, durable, and quality products, directly linked to the needs observed in our workshop: protection, maintenance, transport, connectivity, ergonomics, documentation, or improvement of the daily use of musical equipment.
Our goal is to develop useful, innovative, and responsible objects that can complement existing instruments and machines rather than unnecessarily replacing them. Ultimately, this activity will lead to original ORA creations, designed with the same standards as our revision work: quality, durability, functionality, and respect for the history of musical equipment.
Ora Grading is our aesthetic rating scale. It allows you to quickly understand the overall visual condition of a second-hand product, while retaining a detailed description specific to each item.
The aesthetic grade is established by observing the visible sides of the product: front, back, sides, bottom, and important usage areas, in addition to photos available on the product page.
Ces exemples illustrent le niveau d’usure pouvant correspondre à ce grade. Ils ne signifient pas que chaque produit présente ces trois types de défauts. Chaque exemplaire reste évalué individuellement.

The aesthetic grade does not replace the product sheet. Each item remains individually documented with its photos, signs of use, accessories, and information known by our workshop.
Our goal is to make buying used musical equipment clearer and more reassuring. Each product is individually described and accompanied by clear information on its condition, tests, and any interventions performed.
Our commitment: selling second-hand with transparency.
A second-hand product may have a history, signs of use, or unique characteristics from its past. This is precisely why every item sold by Ora is carefully tested, described, and documented.
The legal guarantees applicable to second-hand goods naturally remain guaranteed to the customer. In addition, our work involves making the product's condition as clear as possible before purchase: verified functionality, indicated aesthetic condition, photos of the actual item sold, included accessories, performed interventions, and any points to note.
Changing your mind is part of distance selling.
When a product is purchased online, the customer has a legal right of withdrawal allowing them to cancel their purchase within 14 days, according to the conditions provided by law.
To preserve the quality of the equipment put back into circulation, the returned product must be sent back carefully, in a condition compatible with its verification, accompanied by the accessories and items received at the time of purchase.
Upon receipt, Ora inspects the returned product before refund or resale. This step helps protect the customer, the workshop, and future buyers, by maintaining a level of transparency consistent with our reuse approach.
A Product Page Specific to Each Item
At Ora, each product page is structured to clearly distinguish between what pertains to the general model and what concerns the specific item actually offered for sale.
The generic description presents the characteristics of the model: its use, functionalities, format, technical specifications, and its relevance in a musical context. It helps to understand what the product is, what it is used for, and why it might be pertinent for a musician, producer, or technician.
To this base, a unique description specific to the unit being sold is added. This section is written based on the observation of the product in our workshop. It specifies its aesthetic condition, tests performed, any interventions carried out, included accessories, visible signs of use, and known information about its history.
This dual reading allows for avoiding any confusion between the theoretical model and the actual item available. The customer can thus understand both the general qualities of the product and the precise condition of the specific item they are purchasing.
Photos of the Item Sold
The photos presented correspond to the unit offered for sale. They are part of the product description and allow for assessing its actual aesthetic condition. Slight display differences may exist depending on the screen used, particularly concerning colors, reflections, or the perception of micro-marks.
After-sales support, designed for pre-owned items.
Because a pre-owned product has its own unique history, Ora provides after-sales support based on transparency and documentation. Each customer request is linked to the specific item sold: its product sheet, photos, cosmetic condition, tests performed, and any interventions carried out in our workshop.
In case of questions or problems, Ora's support allows the customer to open a support request so that the situation can be analyzed with precision. This approach enables us to provide a clear answer, consistent with the documented condition of the product and tailored to the customer's rights.
We believe the bond of trust between buyer and seller is paramount, especially in the used goods sector. Let's work together to build the best way to buy used musical equipment.
